PERSON STATS

  HESSENTHALER, Andy
Born In Dartford On 17/08/1965  England
Player

The Hess. An inspired signing, despite his advancing years. We may have only seen Hess towards the end of his career at Barnet, but he did a fantastic job in the amber and black.

He was already 40 when he signed for Barnet from Gillingham in January 2006. His experience and all round ability played a big role in ensuring Barnets place in League Two that year. Fairclough persuaded him to play on for one more year and he was again a big member of the side in 2006/07, despite turning 41 during the campaign.

He left Barnet in the summer of 2007 and was soon appointed player-manager of Dover Athletic, who he regularly featured for in 2007/08. Hes guided them to back to back promotions and could well lead them to the Blue Square Premier in 2010. A hero at Barnet, but even more so at Gillingham, where the fans voted him their greatest ever player in 2007.
