LEARY, Michael Born In Ealing On 17/04/1983  England Player Signed for Barnet prior to the 2007/08 season, after leaving Luton Town. Michael had played fifty football league games, for various clubs on loan along with Luton, before signing for Barnet. Hed been yellow carded twenty four times. The stats gave an idea of the sort of player we were signing. In his early appearances, he struck up a fairly decent partnership with Neal Bishop, but this wasnt too last. It some become quite apparent that Leary was of limited ability and his best attribute was kicking people. Fairclough stuck with him though, but by the end of the 2007/08 season, he was playing him in a new position, at centre back. Leary did, in fairness, have a couple of strong games in this role and even captained the side on a few occasions. He did enough to earn himself a new one year deal for 2008/09. Mistake. Leary had a bad, bad year. Found out at centre back, pushed back into centre midfield and he wasnt a lot better. He chipped in with two goals, but didnt do a lot else. His temper seemed to calm a little, following two very silly red cards in his first season. All the same, he had to go come May 2009 and Ian Hendon released him. To the surprise of almost everyone, Michael managed to secure himself another league club, on a two year deal. Grimsby Town, you dont know what youre letting yourselves in for, enjoy!
