One of Martin Allens best signings, when he joined Barnet from QPR in the summer of 2003.
Plummer was solid and reliable at centre back throughout the 2003-04 campaign, one of the first names on the team sheet. He began the following season with the club, but became unsettled and requested a transfer when former boss Allen made it clear he wanted to take Plummer to his new club, Brentford.
In the end, Peterborough was Chris destination, signing for them on 3rd September 2004 for £30,000, which represented a reasonable deal for both sides. That year Posh were relegated to League Two, whilst Barnet were promoted and the sides were in the same league for 2005/06. However, Chris had far more serious matters to contend with during that season, as he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Thankfully, after some treatment, he made a full recovery.
Plummer retired from professional football in December 2006 at the age of just 30, to pursue a career in finance. He got back into the game on a part-time basis with Peterborough Northern Star in the Eagles Bitter United Counties League, who he played for until May 2009, before being appointed manager of the same club.
