PERSON STATS

  POPE, Craig
Born On 17/09/1982  England
Player

A right back who was one of the final graduates of the Barnet academy.

He made his debut in 2002, although only enjoyed one full season with club, 2002/03. Never really caught the eye during his time at Barnet, if anything he fitted in with a very average set of Conference players, as the time came 11th that season. He was released by Martin Allen in the summer of 2003.

He had a spell with Cambridge City after first leaving Barnet, before joining Histon. In 2008 he was at the centre of a controversial race row, after it was alleged he made comments of a racist nature to Leo Fortune West, while playing against Cambridge United for Histon. In August 2008 he was found guilty and given a four match ban. Rather than serving it, Pope initially quit football, saying he could not carry on in the game with people perceiving him to be a racist. He still protests his innocence.
